The Hindu Temple of Dayton is a place of worship for the Hindu community in Dayton, Ohio. Although it is a sacred place for the Hindu faithfuls, it still opens its doors to all visitors who are interested in just seeing the temple.

Inside the temple, which is located in Beavercreek, Ohio, are shrines to the deities Venkateshwara, Rama along with Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman, Ganesha, and Radha Krishna.

The temple is mid sized. From the outside near the front door, there is a staircase that leads visitors down to the entrance. I was there on Saturday afternoon and a man, who was there to worship, requested that I should take my shoes off and wash my hands before going to the temple. These are regular rituals that Hindu faithfuls do and visitors must respect and also observe. There is a designated shelf for the shoes and a sink to wash the hands.

Apart from two Hindu faithfuls, I was the only non-Hindu visitor that time. I proceeded upstairs and entered the temple.

It was a vast space in the center and the shrines were mostly located in front and few on the sides. I saw someone praying near one shrine so I had to walk as quietly as I could so as not to disturb him.

It was my first time to be inside a Hindu Temple, so I spent about 30 minutes checking each shrine.

I thought of taking a short video clip inside the temple for my travel records, but there was someone who kept on checking where I was. So I decided not to record the clip.

For those who’d like to visit, the temple is open everyday. I would suggest that you visit on a weekend. It is open from 9:00 am – 8:00 pm.
