The Ohio Caverns is the most colorful caverns in the State of Ohio. So, if you are traveling near West Liberty and fond of caverns, stop by and see this fascinating geological wonder with formations that are 200,000 years old.

Yes, 90% of the caverns stalactite and stalagmite formations are still active.

About an hour drive from Columbus and two hours from Cincinnati, Ohio Caverns is a popular tourist destination. When I visited the place during late winter, sadly, there were only about 10 people on a fine Saturday. But, I bet it could get crowded on summer months!

There is only one tour option for winter season (October to April). A tour guide would lead everyone down to the picturesque caverns and walk through sections that are covered in white crystal formations. This tour would last for about 1 hour.

For those claustrophobic, please rethink visiting the caverns. We walked pretty much in a single file through tight cave walkways and low ceiling.

The Crystal King is the main attraction inside!
