The Model T Museum, located in the center of the historic city of Richmond, is not just a museum but an “immersive experience”. With two different buildings of filled with exhibits, the museum preserves a number of Model T cars and artifacts, tractors, specialty vehicles, and trucks. It even has the a Pietenpol airplane!

Here are few highlights that you can see inside the museum.

  1. The Five Millionth Model T Ford

This Ford Coupe with engine number 5,000,000 rolled off the production line at 7:05 AM on May 28, 1921, and was presented to Edsel Ford as the company’s latest Milestone Car — a Ford vehicle designated as the millionth of its kind.

2. The 1909 Model T Touring

1909 was the first full year of Model T production. This Model T number 6,413 was made in July 1909. Carmine Red was only color available until June when Grey and Green were options.

3. Fruit and Grocery Truck

Model T Ton truck was initially made for use by the U.S. military during WW1. Street vending green grocer trucks like this one were a common sight on city streets in the early 1900s.

4. The 1922 Snowmobile

This was used by L.O. Gray, rural mail carrier, to deliver mail 60 miles every day in the area of Sauk Centre, Minnesota during the 1920s and 1930s. The body is homemade and constructed primarily from the remains of Hoosier cabinets. It has both tires and skis instead of having to remove the tires to put the skis on.

Admission

Is this a free museum? No, it is not. Non-museum members pay $5 per adult. Children 12 and under pay no admission.
