We’ve heard it — there’s a life-size Noah’s Ark aka Ark Encounter in Kentucky! But is it worth your time visiting this themed attraction?

The Ark Encounter has been described online as (1) a massive structure, (2) incredible craftsmanship, and (3) beautifully fabricated teaching exhibits. When I finally visited and saw the Ark, it truly is massive! Spanning 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, it is a modern engineering marvel that amazes visitors young and old.

How long would it take to see everything at the Ark?

A visit to the Ark Encounter entails seeing what’s inside the Ark and what’s outside the Ark. The inside has three decks of beautiful exhibits. The museum is also surrounded by attractions and landscaped gardens. So you need to see these as well. Expect to spend at least two (2) hours to get through both inside and outside attractions.

How much are the tickets to the Ark Encounter?

The entrance tickets to the Ark are quite pricey. See the table below.

Does Ark Encounter have real animals on exhibit?

The answer is no. But the Ark does have realistic life-like versions of the animals that are housed inside it, complete with their huge cages.

Is it allowed to take pictures inside the Ark Encounter?

Of course! Take pictures. Take videos. You are free to capture every moment inside and outside the Ark.

Can you bring food and water inside the Ark?

Unfortunately, you cannot bring food and water inside. However, there is a little store inside if you want to buy something to eat or drink. Also, there is a huge buffet restaurant outside the Ark. Cost for Adults is $14.99, Seniors 60+ $10.99, Youth 5-12 $6.99 and Kids 4 and under are free. You could have lots of food options from salads, to soups, to hot entrees and vegetables and there is a large dessert bar.

How far is the Ark Encounter from the road?

It is a little far. In fact, you cannot see the Ark from the parking area/ticket counters. After purchasing the tickets, there are buses that would transport the visitors from the parking area to the Ark. You would also be taking these buses when you decide to go back to the parking lot.

What animals can you see at the Ark?

According to the website, there are over 100 different species of animal — from Giraffes to Lions and Tigers, to Rabbits to giant African Elephants.

Are there other attractions near the Ark?

Yes, you can also visit the Creation Museum. It is about 43 miles from the Ark Encounter. You have the option to pay for a package to include both the Ark and the Creation Museum when you pay for the ticket. If your time is limited and you have to pick one — choose the Ark!
