Are you looking for a unique travel adventure in the Midwest? Try the African Safari Wildlife Park in Port Clinton, Ohio.

The park is something different to experience in Northern Ohio. The last time I was surrounded by so many animals was at the Wildlife Loop in South Dakota. This African Safari Wildlife Park lets you drive through a loop. The moment the gate opens and you’re inside, expect the first group of elks, alpacas, bisons, etc to come (others even run) towards your car. The park allows animal feeding, but prohibits petting. These animals surround your car and they don’t move! In fact, the small baby animals would just stand still in front of the vehicle. It would take some time to lure them to the side by juggling the food jar, creating a noise distraction. The big animals are wildly playful to a scary point that they’d rub their heads and horns to the side mirrors and windows. Then they start nibbling anything that they could nibble on your car. The lady at the ticket counter would tell you that it’d take 40 minutes to drive through the loop. Don’t believe her. It took me almost 2 hours — and most of the time was spent hoping that another car would appear behind mine to attract another attention. But nope! In the end, it was a great experience.

Here is the layout of the safari park:

Tip:
1. You would be driving through a dirt road and the animals would be rubbing against your vehicle. Expect your vehicle to be muddy afterwards.

Admission Rate.

This is an expensive park. I had to pay $18 for the Fall season price. It is $24 per person during summer. Apart from that, you have to pay $10 for the animal feed. For children 3 to 6 years old, the fee is $6 less.
