When is the best time to visit the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe, New Mexico?

When I visited the famous Cathedral, there was an ongoing mass. No one was allowed to enter the front door, unless you are willing to join the Eucharistic celebration. The people manning the door were strict on this no-entry-during-mass policy to avoid disturbing the faithfuls who were there solely for prayer.

If you only want to enter the church to take photos and check out the interiors, be aware of the mass schedule.

Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi

Old but beautiful.

It is an old cathedral, built in 1886. With a 400-year-old history, it is one of the longest established Christian congregations in the USA. It has been attracting visitors in the city because of its beautiful Romanesque architecture.

A sanctuary.

It may not be as breathtaking as the European churches I’ve visited, however, the church is still uplifting.
