When I visited Luxembourg for the first time, I immediately looked for the Luxembourg Cathedral. Located near the old town market and fashion street, the 1613 structure is the only Cathedral in the tiny country. It may not be as huge as the Notre Dame in Paris, the Renaissance-style inspired Cathedral is just a lovely and mesmerizing.
Inside is the patron saint of Luxembourg, the miraculous image of the Maria Consolatrix Afflictorum.
Pope Pius IX elevated the Luxembourg Cathedral to the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in 1870.
Things to take note:
– The stained glass windows are stunning.
– Search for the huge organs.
– Enjoy the sculptures.
