Ohio Statehouse: Where Abraham Lincoln Stood to Give a Speech

I visited the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio. It is considered one of the oldest working statehouses in the United States, being built between 1839 and 1861. Its architecture is typical Greek Revival.

Today, the Statehouse houses the Ohio General Assembly.

On September 16, 1859, Abraham Lincoln delivered a memorable address at the Statehouse. That momentous event is being commemorated by a marker, erected on the 75th anniversary of his address.
