Kidnap, Smuggle SDSU Students: Abby Duling Says

A friendly competition between rival universities is common and healthy. Sports, for instance, foster and engage friendly competition and cheers between group groups. While each team may want to become the more popular and stronger squad, it is the boosting of comradeship and interactions that must come first.

Abby Duling on The Volante

Whatever that begins as a friendly competition must end as it is. Human as we are, we are all competitive in nature. However, we should not allow this human nature to fuel hate in us. Abby Duling, a columnist of The Volante, the student publication of The University of South Dakota, may not know what friendly competition is all about. In her column “Home of the Coyotes, not the bunnies“, she encouraged violence against specific innocent parties, in this case the students of USD who wear SDSU gears. The “incitement to violence” is clearly described by Ms. Duling’s statement, “All of the people walking around campus with SDSU gear need to be kidnapped, smuggled into the dome and then hurled onto the floor at halftime. Then all of their SDSU backpacks, binders, pencils and SDSU lanyards need to be thrown in after them.”

Life Has To Go On Amidst Insurmountable Terrains

If you have nothing to do in life, don’t kill yourself, please.

Strange thing, this surprising thirst for invisibility. For the past weeks, in those bouts of endless displeasure, a cloud hovered over this lonely head and sprinkled it with drops of desire to be part of the unseen, to be the mysterious guy that humanity couldn’t see or feel. Amongst pickets of work and subject requirements, and everlasting streams of tasks to surmount, this eerie sense to dissolve like wheezing smoke is ever-seething akin to tireless amber in the euphoria of rage.

SDSU Wecota Hall Janitor Bothers Me

SDSU Wecota Hall First Floor

The SDSU Wecota Hall basement janitor left me a note today saying, and I quote verbatim “If you have to dump your partially drank coffee in the waste basket…please wrap in these and save both us a mess??” He left the message on my desk together with 10 small disposable bags.

Never mind the grammar, but the note is a threat to my existence at the basement. He specifically picked me when I am not the only one drinking coffee in the room, neither the only one throwing coffee cups in the waste bin.

For the past weeks, I have been complaining about the cleanliness of room 008. I have never talked to the cleaning guy, but the Center’s secretary. Although, I am pretty sure the admin has already been informed regarding the problem, it looks to me the guy has not done anything about it (yet) for weeks now since the complaint was raised.
