Doctor in Public Aministration Degree – A Way to Politics

17 Nov

Becoming a public official is a no ambition of mine. Public dealing or more appropriately, politics, is a crazy and dirty business that I do not want myself get parceled up. So to be in a degree relating to public administration is in a manner, shocking, if not, terrible. Add to that the possibility of almost finishing the degree only makes things more complicated. But whoever possesses a good reason to its complexity, rather than just say I do not have anything to do in life, would really believe I would run for public office in the future.

Remembering Daddy Amado

6 Nov

How would you describe a dear father you’ve just lost? One way: by counting the moments you had spent with him and wishing that there could be more. My father, Amado Salas, died of stroke on September 8th, 2010. He was 63.

Daddy never had a favorite child. All four of us siblings were treated fairly. While there were times I delighted at the thought of me being closest to my father, he did not show signs of leaning to my fascination. The only time dad finally gave in to his feelings and revealed a clue that my name occupied a portion of his mind, was when he called my two brothers by my name (in separate occasions, of course). These incidents happened when he was already under medication, after his second mild stroke.

How to Search Old Facebook Wall Posts and Status Updates

6 Nov

I have been wanting to see, read, search an old Facebook wall post that I had as my “status” months ago. I tried searching for the right button on my profile page, but all I got was the “older posts” arrow in the bottom of my wall. The problem is, if I have to go that far, I need to keep pressing it. That is such a pain.

In few of the forums I read online, it says that “Facebook does not provide any official tools to find out the older posts, and there is no any better shortcut to see your older posts very quickly.” So how will you search old Facebook wall posts and status updates? Use some apps and tricks!

Argao Mayor Edsel Galeos Welcomes Me

23 Oct

See who is in the Argao Mayor’s office? That’s me people! Mayor Edsel Galeos and I posed for a quick photo shoot after a good chat regarding the possibility of having a public library in the town. And my role — to help make the project a reality!

When will the project start? It is still in the planning stage and I need the help of every Argaoanon. Every little help to make this library dream come true will be appreciated much.

Argao Cebu Philippines is a Beautiful Town

17 Oct

Argao, located in the south of the Cebu island Philippines, is a beautiful town. I never thought it is so beautiful until I visited the mountainous areas of the town lately. In all my years of living in the town’s lowlands, it just dawned on me that there is more to the story of every “habal-habal” plying the rugged terrains of the mountains every day. One has to be there, on the mountains, to see and experience life beyond the plains.

Aside from the cultural heritage, Argao is blessed with precious natural treasures that every Argawanon should be proud of.

Red Box Karaoke at Ayala Terraces Cebu City

28 Sep

I have already visited the Red Box Karaoke at the Ayala Terraces in Cebu City. My sister and I were looking for a place to eat lunch and a friend referred us to Red Box, which just opened the day before. I thought at first that it may just be one of the usual karaoke bars in town where food comes next to comfort of the room. But it was not. Unlike other karaoke bars, we had a unique room experience with a cozy feel of its interiors and a bounty of food served at our delight for a very affordable price.

With only P299 per head, we had an eat-all-you-can eating service including a room complete with a high-tech karaoke system. The system contains about 1000 songs that are organized according to artists, or songs.

Room as a Jungle

5 Sep

Few Filipino friends back home have asked me about how clean Americans are in the house. I could not give an answer straight to the point, because the term “clean” is relative. Cleanliness in the Filipino perspective could be a far cry from from the American viewpoint. If cleanliness is the absence of dirt or offensive odor, then based on the number of American homes I have been into since 2006, Americans do maintain a clean surrounding.

Of course, there are exceptions to the rule. Some Americans (mostly the younger generations) do not know how to maintain tidiness in areas of the house that are supposed to be shipshape. This is not specific to one culture, however. Although Filipinos are known to be really clean in the house, some are deficient in this area of household responsibility as well.

Blogger Adds Blog Statistics Feature

31 Aug

I am surprised to see that Blogger added a new feature on its platform. Have you seen that there is now a “Stat” menu added on top of the Blogger interface? The “Stat” is useful especially for those who are still starting with their blogs and will want to know the basic stats like the number of daily or monthly pageviews.
