Super Bowl Games Can Kill You

11 Nov

Superbowl 2012

According to a a study published in Clinical Cardiology journal, deaths due to cardiac events can be related to championship football matches, such as the popular Super Bowl games. The authors found that a Super Bowl loss triggered increased deaths in both men and women and especially in older patients, whereas a Super Bowl win reduced death more in those aged ≥65 years and in women.

It is known that stressors such as intense sporting events may increase cardiac event rates in fans, but there has been little data available on the demographics of these fans. Based on our linear regression analysis, our study suggested that Los Angeles’ 1980 Super Bowl loss increased total and cardiac deaths in both men and women and triggered more deaths in older patients compared with younger patients. Conversely, the 1984 Super Bowl win showed a trend for reduction of death rates, slightly better in older than younger patients and in women more than men. There were no significant interactions between Super Bowl and race in our linear regression analyses.

Heaven Is Not Only Made For Catholics

Loving The Silence

God should punish those who fakely preach his words. There is a pastor’s daughter who often talks religion and God. From the outside, she flaunts an aura of virginity, untouched. But behind the white veil hides a flirty lady who goes after men, invites them in her home and sleeps with them whenever she gets a chance. There is one self-proclaimed pastor who reads the bible every single day but when irked, he curses like there’s no tomorrow. He abhors sinners and wishes eternally that they burn in hell. Then there’s the racist couple who call themselves Christians, the guy who prays the rosary at sunrise and intoxicates himself with alcohol at night, and the priest who sexually abuses kids.

Please God, punish them!

SM Arena – Mall of Asia Arena To Open Soon

20 Aug

Proposed multipurpose SM MOA Arena

Even with just the prospect of having a huge world-class arena that can accommodate big international events excites me. Now, it seems that SM will make everything happen with the construction of the SM Mall of Asia Arena aka SM Arena. According to some details I found online, the state-of-the-art venue is expected to hold a seating capacity of 16,000 to 20,000 people. This will compete with the largest indoor arena in the Philippines, the Araneta Coliseum, which can hold 25,000 people.

The Araneta Coliseum is old. It was constructed in 1960. The last biggest arena built in the country was in 1993, the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City, which has a capacity of 10,000. It is, indeed, high time to construct a new one and, surely, the SM Arena will put the Philippines back in the world map. We need world-class arenas to attract big international acts to come to the country, don’t we?

Cross Country Soaring: Best Gliding Experience in Faribault Minnesota

10 Aug

The Glider

The easiest way to touch the clouds, literally, is to go gliding. Gliding is less scary than skydiving. While the latter may seem to harness the power of adrenaline due to a quick drop, the former is better in providing a worthwhile flying experience in a much longer time. The first time you try gliding, there will be heart-thumping. It is the same feeling when you ride the roller coaster the very first time, that same sensation when the coaster begins to drop down a steep slope. At times after take-off, you may feel your heartbeat skip, especially during the first few minutes. The “skipping feel” is usually normal, as the glider experiences few sporadic bumps caused by a small powered tow plane connected to it by a rope.

Is this the right thing to settle an argument? According to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, it is. She (you read it right, a lady) boxed Davao Regional Trial Court sheriff, Abe Andres, in the face for not heeding to her request!

Chinese Navy vs Philippine Navy – Statistics Are Clear!

China vs Philippines

Statistical numbers are clear – we are outnumbered! The Philippine Navy force is no match against the powerful Chinese Naval force. Well, that is expected. China is now becoming one of the most influential and powerful countries in the world. It is just right for the country to modernize its naval forces to defend its seas and coasts. According to one article I’ve read, China operates the largest submarine force in Asia.
