I had the chance to stroll stroll around New York City last January 2016 and visited three parks: the Washington Square Park, Union Square, and Madison Square Park. These parks are just few blocks away from each other and easily accessible if you are coming from Time Square. So, if you want to escape from the chaos of 5th Avenue, head to any of these parks, find a bench (which are all over the place), and then enjoy the squirrels chattering and running around.

Madison Square Park

I love this park. Surrounded by beautiful architecture/landmarks and food pit stops, this is the best park for foodies.

Union Square

It was a Saturday when I visited the park, so I experienced the best Farmer’s Market in Manhattan! The park is huge, so there are places for skaters and for those who just want to sit down and relax. There is a public bathroom, and a playground for your pet dog.

Washington Square Park

This is the New York University’s (NYU) campus quadrangle. There is always something interesting going on in this park — from a musician playing the piano, to a group of friends playing board games.
