What is the oldest church in the United States? It is the San Miguel Church in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Under the auspices of Fray Alonso de Benavides, the church was built by Tlaxcalan Indians from Mexico in the early 1600s. The original adobe walls remain under the stucco exterior.
