The exact address of the City of Rocks State Park in New Mexico confused me. One website lists Deming, NM as its location city. Another website lists it as Faywood, NM. The New Mexico State Park website says it is “located about halfway between Silver City and Deming.” With all the confusion of the exact address of the ‘City of Rocks’, there is one thing certain — the City of Rocks State Park is true to its name with a city of volcanic rock formations that date back to 35 million years ago.

The site offers camping areas, picnic grounds, and hiking trails. The campground is located right within the rock formations.

I have seen a number of rock formations in all my travels, but this one is fascinating and just plain fun.
There were many kids climbing up the rocks and running between the rocky columns. There were couples resting on top of huge boulders. It seemed like there was something for the whole family at the City of Rocks.
