Just few moments ago, the formidable Filipino boxer, Manny Pacquiao, was defeated by challenger Timothy Bradley in a split decision. The final scorecard — 115-113, 113-115, 115-113 — showed that Bradley is now the reigning WBO welterweight titleholder and it ended Pacquiao’s 15-fight winning streak.

Although the “Desert Storm” came out victorious against “Pacman”, most viewers were dismayed of the turnout. I, for one, thought it was Pacquiao’s game all along and was stunned to see that the judges awarded the split decision to Bradley.

Controversial decision or not, Manny Pacquiao will go home to the Philippines as the defeated fighter. Whether there will be a rematch between the two boxers in the future, this fight will forever be written in the history of the boxing sport as the night Pacquiao lost, and Bradley frolicked.

Others said that Pacquiao should retire from boxing. I think he should. His defeat tonight could be a sign that he should really quit the sport. Now that he considers himself as a devout Catholic and preaches the word of God, he should rethink of getting into another fight and humbly accept the fact that he is not in his prime anymore. When will be the best to retire than now? Will he wait for another beating and further tarnish his boxing record?

Manny Pacquiao does not have to prove further that he is one of the best boxers in this generation. He has already shown it with his titles in four different weight classes and a career record of 54-4-2 (W,L,D).

Pacquiao should focus now on his political work as a Philippine congressman. Or maybe spend more time as a religious preacher.

What do you think? Should Manny finally quit boxing?
