Premiere Citi Suites – Deluxe Room

The Premiere Citi Suites and Hotel is located relatively close to big malls — a walking distance to the Robinson mall in the uptown area and a 10-minute cab ride to the Ayala mall at Cebu Business Park. The hotel opened in 2011 and, as expected, the rooms look new and uninhabited.

When I reserve for a hotel room, I always read online reviews first to be certain that there is a free WiFi in the room and it must be free of bed bugs. Second, I ask friends for additional info. However, in my recent travel to the city, I have never done any of those. I had an unexpected trip to the city that required me to stay for 4 days. The first accommodation option was the Mango Park Hotel, which costs P1,750 a night. I had stayed in the hotel last year. It has free WiFi and breakfast. The area was quite safe too. Unluckily, there was no available room when I inquired. The second option came from the cab driver who suggested that I should try the Premiere Citi Suites and Hotel along Ma. Cristina Street at the Capitol site. Although I have not heard about it, I took the risk.

I was greeted by friendly staff at the front desk. All standard rooms (P995.00) were full except for a deluxe room (P 1,395.00) that was only available for a night. I took the room and hoped to get it again the following day. While checking-in, the lady staff told me that the hotel is fairly new and not all taxi drivers know its location. When I entered room 401, I was surprised to see a couch. I have traveled around the U.S. and not so many hotels have sofa beds in their deluxe rooms.

The room was spacious and chic-looking. I love the big LED TV and the concrete column in the mid section of the room that gives an impression of more space. There was strong water pressure in the hot/cold shower. I had an experience in another hotel before where the shower barely drips. Fairly big closet for clothes and shoes with a safely deposit box inside. Outside the room, in the hall, I saw a hot and cold mineral drinking water dispenser (I later found out that each hall has one).

The free breakfast sucked! That is exactly how I will describe it. Unlike in other hotels where they offer buffet breakfast in the same room rate, Premiere Citi Suites offers plated breakfast with so limited choices (e.g. a plate of small fried sausage, egg, and a cup of garlic rice. And then a choice of either coffee or fruit juice for your drink). The restaurant is at the roof deck, which by the way, failed in my expectation. What’s with the white and red plastic chairs? The bar did not have enough options for food and drinks.

WiFi is free. The signal got intermittent at times, but much better than other hotels.

No gym area. No daily newspaper supply.

Overall, with a rate of just P1395 for a deluxe room, you should not expect a hiccup-free accommodation. I think the hotel amenities and services are more than what you paid for.

When I go back to Cebu City, I would definitely keep Premiere Citi Suites in my hotel options again!
