The Pantheon in Rome, Italy is a must-see for anyone visiting the country. I have seen so many places in Rome, and the Pantheon was one of my favourite historical sites.

Expect to be walking elbow-to-elbow with the rest of the hundreds of tourists around, but this will never interfere to the amazing experience that you will get inside the magnificent architectural wonder.

The Pantheon is a well-known historical and architectural monument located in Rome, Italy. It was originally built as a temple to all the gods in 27 BC by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa, but the current structure is believed to have been built during the reign of Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD.

The Pantheon is characterized by its iconic dome, which is made of concrete and is one of the largest unsupported domes in the world. The dome has an oculus, or circular opening, in the center which allows natural light to enter the building. The oculus also serves as a symbolic connection between the temple and the heavens.

The temple’s interior is decorated with elaborate marble columns and a number of statues, and it was originally used for religious purposes. Over the centuries, the building has also been used as a church, and it remains a popular tourist destination and a symbol of ancient Rome.

One of the most interesting features of the Pantheon is the fact that the dome is made of concrete, which was a relatively new building material at the time of its construction. The Pantheon’s dome has also inspired many other famous buildings throughout history, including St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome and the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C.
